Keep Cool and Cover Up this July with these nifty products from our Bulk Herb & Spice Department: Lemonade Mix and Zinc Oxide!
Zinc Oxide
Not only does Zinc Oxide provide broad-spectrum sun protection that prevents burns, it also helps to lower skin inflammation associated with rashes, allergies, or irritation. It can help treat acne breakouts, too, by improving wound healing and preventing bacterial infections. So don’t be afraid to slather on this DIY sunscreen this summer!
DIY Sunscreen
Make your own all natural sunscreen with just a few simple ingredients including bulk zinc oxide using our in-house recipe.
Mix all the following ingredients in a saucepan and melt over low heat:
• ¼ C beeswax
• 1 tsp carrot seed oil
• ½ C olive oil
• ¼ C coconut oil
• 1 tsp vitamin e oil
• 2 tsp shea butter
Remove pan from heat and mix in:
• 2 Tbsp zinc oxide
Cool and store!
Zinc Oxide is a mineral compound which functions as a protective barrier for the skin. This recipe makes an SPF 15 sunscreen. Add more zinc oxide for a higher SPF content. (More zinc oxide will result in a whiter sunscreen.)
Lemonade Mix
Our Bulk Lemonade Mix makes it easy to enjoy a refreshing glass of lemonade without squeezing a bunch of lemons!
Lavender Lemonade
Cool off with an ice cold glass of lavender lemonade. Sweet, tart and unexpectedly aromatic, this refreshing treat will make an impressive splash at any summer gathering. In just four simple steps, you can easily create a new summer favorite.
Ingredients:
• 32 ounces cold water
• 1/2 cup Organic Lemonade Mix
• 1 cup boiling water
• 1 tablespoon Organic Lavender Flowers
Directions:
Prepare lemonade by mixing the water with the Lemonade Mix in a pitcher. In a cup or small bowl, pour boiling water over lavender flowers. Steep 5 minutes before straining. Add lavender tea to lemonade. Stir well and serve over ice.
